Little did Catherine and I know how hard it would be to take care of young children and start a business at the same time. Starting a business is hard enough, taking care of the kids is hard enough, but the two together will get you praying and pleading for more time, sleep, fun, money, me-time, you-time, clean-the-house time, leave- me- alone I’m on the phone time.

Just this morning, we were trying to have a conference call with an important distributor in Canada, and like during most of our phone calls there is a little one pulling at our leg. As Catherine was trying to obtain pertinent information about a potential business deal, her four-year old daughter is overheard on the phone exclaiming, “what a big poop she had!”

Basically, running a business out of your home and running a home sky-rockets you into a dimension of multi-tasking you never thought humanly possible (and trust me, I already know that moms are the supreme beings of multi-tasking). There are definite pluses to it, but you have to be pro-active about finding balance and taking a breather from it all sometime.
