Today news spread across the internet like wild fire about the newest baby product recalled due to safety concerns. The Nap Nanny Infant Recliner was recalled voluntary, after a 4 month old baby girl in Michigan was found dead according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

“The CPSC said the girl who died was in the harness on the recliner but was found hanging over the side, stuck between a crib bumper and the Nap Nanny.”

Which poses the question of safety of crib bumpers again. Had the crib bumper never been applied onto the crib in question, would this little girl have been spared by the product being used incorrectly?

Which sparks the ongoing debate once again of why are traditional crib bumpers continuing to be used all over the world despite the number of deaths that are directly related annually to crib bumpers?
